Greenwich Letterpress

Every once and awhile we get to design logos, which can be a lot of fun when working with a great client. We redesigned the logo for Del Toro shoes and will admit it is kind cool to see the logo reproduced on the shoes themselves. The concept was based on an engraved French butcher poster showing the different cuts. After a few rounds we ended up simplifying the image of the bull to include the logo in the center.

I probably should have worked some free shoes into the contract.

Real Wedding

Of course I loved working on this invitation because I finally got to use my platypus image!

The bride was from Australia and the groom the Midwest so both the platypus and stag represented the couples hometowns. The pigeon was a little element of NYC.

Retro Betty Crocker

When I was home recently I found a copy of my Mom's original Betty Crocker cookbook from the late 1960's. Needles to say I was amazed by some of these recipes. Here are a few of my favorites.

That "tablescape" is really making a statement. Is it just me or does that cake look really good.

I have to hand it to the food stylists they really take the food presentation to a new level.

They really took pickles on white bread to the extreme. Maybe I will have to whip it up next time I have people over, I'll be all like "WHAT you have never had Petals 'N Pickles, seriously?"

I see the Cat Cake in my sisters future.

I am loving that yellow range on the counter. Those ladies look like they were having a LOT of fun.

This was a nautical themed invite we designed for a wedding celebration. We had a hole drilled in the corner so they could attach a rope through it (too cute)! We letterpressed it on thicker paper so it would hold up to the rope.

Our first time at the National Stationery Show

Irving Farm Coffee Packaging

I was instantly drawn to the packaging used for Irving Farm Coffee. They have a really nice style going on, (hats off to the packaging designers). This would have been a dream project to work on when I did packaging design back in the day.

I recently moved and am now right around the corner from one of their shops and I wasn't surprised to see that the decor of the shop really reflects the packaging. Very cozy farm store vibe, plus the baristas know what they're doing and it's all locally roasted and free trade. I am drinking their Hazelnut Jungle Fusion as I write this and it is good.

It has a nice little blurb at the top about what her job entails written with a humorous slant and some personal facts (like that she is a big horror movie fan). This is part of the wedding we designed that was featured in last September's Vogue. The couple Sylvana & Adam were married in Portland, Oregon and the bride wanted the designs to reflect the natural beauty of the area. I especially liked the wood grain back of the invite as it gave it a little something extra (plus like many of you I am a sucker for faux bois).

Oh Parisians what can't they do...

I always thought this was a great idea. This is a business card from a restaurant in Paris that is an old photography with a stamp on the back. I love the fact that each one is an original photo and this one even has a handwritten note with the names and date on the back. I know that flea markets sometimes have bins of old photos that would come in handy if you wanted to make a go at these DIY cards.

This was a save the date postcard. The image of the dancer fit perfectly with the location of the wedding.

This wedding was a lot of fun to work on. The couple had collected a bunch of stamps from Buenos Aires and I ended up using one of them on their invitation. Designing this really made me want to visit Argentina!
